1)SRILANKA HAS MORE PER CAPITA INCOME (US$4390) THAN INDIA HICH HAS A PER CAPITA INCOME (US$3139) STANDING SECOND IN 2004 HDI LIST.AS SRILANKA IS A SMALL COUNTRY COMPARED TO INDIA THE INCOME MAY BE MORE AND POPULATION IS LESS WHEREAS IN INDIA ITS VICE-VERSA.

2)SRILANKA HAS A LIFE EXPECTANCY OF AN AVERAGE PERSON IS 74 YEARS WHILE IN INDIA ITS ABOUT 64 YEARS.THIS CAN BE DUE TO THE WELL DEVELOPED HEATHCARE FACILITIES IN SRILANKA.

3)LITERACY RATE FOR 15+YRS PPULATION IN SRILANKA IS 91 AS OF INDIA IS 61.BUT WE CAN SAY THAT THE LITERACY RATE OF SRILANKA IS QUITE HIGH BUT IS ALSO RAISNG IT EDUCATIONAL LEVELS SO INCREASE LITERACY CAN BE ACHEIVED SOON.

FOR OVERALL VIEW OF HDI DATA,SRILANKA AND INDIA HAS BEEN PLACED IN 93RD AND 126TH RANK RESPECTIVELY.
