Cape Kanyakumari is the Southernmost tip of the Indian mainland, however – 'Indira Point' in the Little Nicobar group of islands is considered the southernmost point in the Indian union – this point is now partially submerged following the Tsunami that hit South and South East Asia in December 2004.
