Answer:If you’re comparing them with input via a hard/solid-state drive, or even the slowest internet option (are you old enough to remember 1200 baud modems?), there are few if any advantages. But limitations abound.

If you compare them with smoke signals, it becomes more even.

Comparing them with input via telegraph, a fast operator could give a slow typist like me a good run for the money.

Keyboards, and mice when GUIs became popular, are standardized uniform ways for humans to enter data. They are not perfect, and for that matter whatever replaces them, won’t be either. The replacement may be just around the corner timewise, but I doubt it. Think how many years keyboards, and for that matter mouse, type devices have been around. The more they change, the more they stay the same.

But they are the most common, cost effective, i.e. best way, to do it today.
