Answer :

In the short story 'The Lost Child' by Mulk Raj Anand, there is a great change in the attitude of the child before and after separation from his parents.

In the beginning of the story, the child is in a happy and excited frame of mind. He is fascinated by all the things like balloons, sweets, flowers, toys etc. on offer at the fair. He repeatedly requests his parents for these things but is refused. He longs for these things and can't help but admire them.

By the end of the story, the boy is separated from his parents. He is no longer interested in the things on offer like balloons, sweets, flowers, toys etc. as they do not provide him satisfaction and contentment anymore. The only thing that he desires is to be reunited with his parents.

Before separation child was very happy and excited at the fair. He was fascinated with all the things that were displayed at the stalls. He wanted to have all the things like his favourite toys, sweets, flowers, etc. He also wanted to go for a ride. But after separation the boy just wanted to be with his parents. He was not interested in any of those things which he kept longing to have from the stalls. In the absence of his parents these things did not give him any satisfaction.
