BF_3 has a lower boiling point than BMe_3.

  • In BF_3 the B atom is attached to three electron-withdrawing F atoms which attracts the electron of the B-F bond and make the bond weaker and have a lower boiling point.
  • Again in BMe_3 the B atom is attached to three electron donating Me group which donates the electron to the B-Me bond and makes the bond stronger and has a higher boiling point.
