A division of western educated scholars originated the idea of a popular Nigerian nation and initiated to fight against the British government. Macaulay organized the Nigerian National Democratic Party to fight against the foreign rule. He also assists the combative attacks on the British government. The backbone of the nationalist campaign in Nigeria was its soldiers.

India also struggled against the British administration. The main difference between the nationalist movement of Nigeria and India is that while Nigeria struggled the British with some force, whereas, Indian leader M.K. Gandhi implemented the policy of non-violence and non-cooperation. Moreover, the main reason for why the nationalist struggle in India was influential than Nigeria is that, in India, all the groups of society was concerned in the struggle whereas, only militants were struggling against the British dominion in Nigeria.
