Compare the power used in 2 ohm resistor in each case:-
a) when 6V battery is series with 1ohm and 2 ohm resistor.
b) 6V battery is parallel with 12 ohm and 2ohm resistor.​

Explanation:

a. current remains same in series,

I = V/ (1+2)

I = 6 /3 = 2A

POWER ACROSS 2 OHM IS I²R = 2 X 2 X 2 = 8W

b. voltage remains same in parallel,

power across 2 ohm is v²/r

= (6 x 6 )/2 = 18 W
