VEDIC PERIOD brought a foundational changes in the evolution of Indian society, culture and economy. However there are many similarities and differences between early vedic and later vedic periods, with respect to social setup and economic progression.
SIMILARITIES:-
Social setup
1) Both the Vedic ages involved the development of caste system

Economic setup

DIFFERENCES:-
Social setup
1) Early vedic was more liberal in nature, where women were treated more with equal rights in sabhas and samitis, dowry was absent, window remarriage was promoted, women education was also professed.
Where in later vedic age women condition get deteriorated, as social evils like dowry, sati system, denial of women education, infanticide etc grew.
2) Division of castes in the early vedic period was based upon the merit and individual capacity of the person and there is greater vertical mobility between castes.
But later vedic age denoted with caste as a birth phenomenon and caste system was made more watertight comparmentalization of the society and hence leading to issues of exploitative and discriminative caste based rigidities like Untouchability.
