  • in india a shift has not taken place in terms of employment in all sectors.
  • primary sector still continues to be the largest employer but produces less.
  • but secondary and tertiary sectors do not employ much people but produces more.
  • this shows that in agriculture most people are underemployed.there are more people than required.even if a afew are removed , the production will not be affected.

A focus on employment and GDP helps determine two important things—per capita income and productivity. Hence, in each of the three sectors, employment rate and status as well as its contribution to the GDP help us understand how that particular sector is functioning and what needs to be done to initiate further growth in it
