The major differences were of the shape, size and using pattern.

Paleolithic tools were crude in shape. They were mostly flaked tools. The most common method of flaking was Acheulian. The flaked tools have been found through out India from this age but first such discovery was done by Robert Bruce Foote in Madras. That's why these flaked tools also known as Madrasian Culture tools. Example : Hand Axes, Choppers, Burins, Blades etc.
Another type of tools we're pebble tools first found in Soan Valley Pakistan hence the name Soanian Culture tools. But they are not found beyond Soan Valley.
Mesolithic tools were smaller in size. That's why they were also called microliths. They were used as composite tools. Example : Arrowheads, trapeze or triangle shaped tools.
