The buds in case of Bryophyllum grows on leaf and falls on the soil to give rise to a new independent plant but in the case of hydra a bud develops as an outgrowth due to repeated cell division at one specific site. These buds develops into tiny individuals and when it fully mature, detach from the parent body and and become new independent individuals.

In the case of BRYOUPHYLLUM,a new individual grows(as leaves) as an outgrowth on the sides of the leaves......But in the case of a HYDRA,new individuals grow as buds and get detached once they reach a certain stage.....
