『The Mirage of Drops』
The rain was not showing any signs of letting up and Prateek was getting impatient. Of all the days he had to pick this one to forget bringing his umbrella!..
On a beautiful night of June, Prateek was walking down the street after watching a good play in the coliseum. Contrary to his expectations, it started to rain. After the first drops, the rain began getting heavier. Along with the umbrella, unfortunately he even forgot to bring his trench coat and rain boots. This changed his nature towards rain from pleasant to annoying. He was walking in order to find a cafe or restaurant and take cover in a safe place waiting for the rain to stop.
Suddenly, the street lights went off and he heard a sound behind him. He started walking again, but he noticed that the sound was getting louder. To his curiosity with all his courage, he took out the torch and headed towards the place from where the sound was coming. He was frightened to know that it was a puppy crying in pain. The puppy was bleeding heavily as a result of dog fight. The puppy could be seen in the pool of blood. As if this much was not enough, he found a tragic note accompanying the puppy. According to the note, the owner couldn't afford taking care of the puppy and needed someone to find him a home.
On a second thought, Prateek took the dog to a vetenary doctor as the rain stopped. The doctor immediately treated him and he was absolutely fine after a few days. Prateek's home was his new place. Dog loving Prateek gave this pup a new name 'Toby'. Though it was a heart-throbbing experience for Prateek, he was contented to help the puppy find a new home. The day after the incident, in the evening Prateek kept staring out of the window wondering about his good deed, the dog owner and the whole incident. He was completely lost in his head. The conclusion was that he had discovered a new Prateek in himself, the one who was always with a tender and benevolent nature.
