The flag of Brazil, first adopted in 1889, is known as ‘A Auriverde’ in Portuguese - the Yellow and Green one.

It has a Green background, depicting a green field, with a yellow rhombus in the centre and a blue disc showing a starry sky and a band on it with the words “Order e Progresso”, meaning order and progress.

Design and concept of the Brazilian flag is by Raimundo Teixeira, Miguel Lemos, Manuel Pereira Reis and Decio Villares.
