In isosceles trapezium , the base angles

are equal .

Given :ABCD is an Isosceles trapezium.

AB // CD ,

AD = BC

To prove : <A = <B

Construction : Draw DE and CF

perpendiculars to AB .

Proof :

In ∆AED , ∆BFC

<AED = <BFC = 90° [ construction ]

AD = BC ( given )

DE = CF [ altitude between two

parallel lines ]

Therefore ,

∆AED ≅ ΔBFC [ RHS congruence rule ]

<A = <B [ C.P.CT ]

Base angles are equal .
