Subject + has been/have been + Verb + ing.

The Present Perfect Continuous Tense is used :-

(i) To describe an action which began at some time in the past and is still continuing.

(ii) In the present perfect continuous we use since to indicate point of time and for to indicate period of time. we can say:

  • He has been sleeping since 3 p.m.
  • He has been sleeping for 2 hours.

(iii) Present continuous tense is not used with adverb indicating past time.
