Ashok was playing in the park. Suddenly, he saw a man hitting a small boy. Ashok ran towards them. He took hold of the man's arm strongly and asked him, What the matter was ? Then, the man told that the boy was his son. He further told that he didn't like his friendship with the dog he had tamed. The boy even used to sleep with that dog. He also told that before going to office, he had warned his son to keep that beast at an arm's length. But his 'pet friend' had torn his important official papers. Ashok consoled the man and also advised the boy to tame his pet carefully. Many months passed. One night the boy was sleeping in his room. By chance a burmn' g candle fell on his bed. It caught fire. Soon the room was full of smoke. The dog barked very loudly. But the little boy was fast asleep. He did not wake up. The poor dog did not know What to do to save his friend. He rushed to his father's room. He dashed into it and began to bark loudly. The man was disturbed in his sleep. He lost his temper. He beat the dog severely and shunted him out of the room. But the dog did not stop from barking. He caught hold of the end of the shirt of the man, and dragged him out. The man went on beating him. But the faithful creature did not mind. At last, the man was forcible taken to the boy's room.
