Story writing

I was alone in the house and someone knocked on the door. My parents were not at home. It was midnight and I was watching horror films. I was thinking who could be there at the door ? He/She won't be my parents as they had the key and they won't knock.

I was thinking and thinking then the doorbell rang. Then I heard the sound of knocking. I was really scared.

Should I open the door? Should I call my parents? Was it a ghost? Was it a thief?

Scary and terrifying thoughts were arriving in my mind. I gathered my courage and went near the door and peeped through the key hole.

I could see four people standing. One man, two boys and a woman. But I couldn't see their faces. Finally I opened the door.

I could see my parents and my cousins standing! They wished me "Happy Birthday!" I forgot that today was my birthday.

They knew by opening the door they would have ruined the surprise but they couldn't have thought I would be scared!

This was one of my scariest birthday surprises!
