One day, a woodcutter was hired by a timber merchant. His job was to cut as many trees as possible. The pay was good. The working environment was motivating too. The woodcutter was happy with the bonus structure that was finalized for him.On the first day of his job, merchant showed him the area of the forest where he was supposed to work. The woodcutter, being motivated, started working hard. On the first day, he cut 20 trees. He never knew he had this much strength. But he was happy that he was able to prove his worth.Next day, again, he started with as much enthusiasm as ever. But he could cut only 15 trees. He felt bad that even after giving more efforts, he wasn’t able to generate results. On the third day,he was dedicated enough and had planned to cut as many trees as possible. But he could cut only 12 trees. This was disappointing. He went to the merchant and apologized saying that he was not able to prove his worth. He was losing his strength. And the worst thing was that he did not know what the reason was.The merchant asked him: When was the last time did you sharpen your axe?
