I was studying 2nd standard when this incident happened.

I saw my friend stealing a pencil from another classmate.

He had complained to the teacher that his pencil is missing.

My teacher asked everyone if we know who took his pencil.

I kept silent because I wanted to save my friend.

My classmate cried a lot on that day saying that his parents are very poor and will be punished by his parents for losing his pencil.

Next day, he came with a bruise in his face and I felt very bad about.

If only I had told the truth, he would have escaped the beating.

I didn’t correct my friend when he was doing wrong.

I feel guilty for doing this even after I am grown up.

If I met my classmate, I would say sorry for keeping silent on that day.
