2x² + x - 4 = 0

 {x}^{2} + \frac{x}{2} - \frac{4}{2} = 0

 {x}^{2} + 2 \times x \times \frac{1}{4} - \frac{4}{2} = 0

 {x}^{2} + 2 \times x \times \frac{1}{4} + {( \frac{1}{4} )}^{2} - {( \frac{1}{4} )}^{2} \: - \frac{4}{2}

 {(x + \frac{1}{4} )}^{2} = \frac{1}{16} + \frac{4}{2}

(x + 1/4)² = 33/16

x + 1/4 = √33 / 4

x = (√33 - 1)/4
