Any number that can be expressed in terms of a+ib is called as complex numbers. Here 'a' and 'b' are real numbers and 'i' is the imaginary part.
Sum of any two complex numbers is such that only the real numbers are added separately and imaginary parts are added separately.
Example:
a+ib + c+id = (a+c) + i (b+d)
