In a deck of 52 cards, there are 13 cards of each suite namely- Spades, Clubs, Hearts and Diamonds.

13*4=52 cards.

And each suite has 3 face cards. So, there are 12 face cards in all- four each of Jack, Queen and King.

4 suites * 3 face cards in each suite= 12 Face cards.

OR

4 Jacks + 4 Queens + 4 Kings= 12 Face cards

A "standard" deck of playing cards consists of 52 Cards in each of the 4 suits of Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs. Each suit contains 13 cards: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King. Historically, this is the French or Anglo-American deck.
