Answer:

1. Lochinvar is a brave knight who arrives unannounced at the bridal feast of Ellen, his beloved, who is about to be married to “a laggard in love and a dastard in war.”Lochinvar was hurrying to reach nether by hall as the wedding for Lochinvar's love – Ellen was happening at Netherby Hall. His purpose was to stop that wedding but not to make a mess. He wanted to tell his feelings to his lover before she gets married.

2. Lochinvar was confident as can be understood by the fact that he came alone and without any weapons other than his broadsword. He was faithful in love and hence came, even at the last minute, to claim his beloved.

B.

1. The qualities of the bridegroom listed in stanza 2 are: he was laggard in love and dastard in war. He was a very timid and coward person.

2. The most important evidence in there in stanza 3 was that bridegroom did not speak a single word in front of Lochinvar; this showed that the bridegroom was a coward person.

3. Her father did not like the brave knight so he forced Ellen to marry someone else. During the marriage ceremony at Netherby Hall, Lochinvar went to see the bride. The bride's father angrily stopped Lochinvar but he told him that he came there peacefully and to just dance with her and enjoy the party.
