1)b) Velu finds them strange because they are different from the houses in his village. There, the houses are made up of mud and palm leaves.

2)Jaya and children like her collected paper, plastic, glass, and other such things. They sold these items to Jam Bazaar Jaggu, who further sold it to a factory.

3). Velu is not happy because he scratched his head and sides when he was offered the work from Jaya. He thought he would do it now until he gets a better job.
