The ending of the chapter, The Enemy, by Pearl S. Buck was perfect. The POW, Tom was successfully rescued either by a Korean Boat or an American rescue mission boat. The ending was perfect as the preceding story beautifully unfolded. Dr. Sadao did a daring and ideal service to not only his profession, but to the entire mankind by saving the life of a helpless American. He also did his duty to his country by informing the General, who omitted to take timely action. Hence the conclusion of the story was justified as well as beautifully attractive.

Sadao anticipated the American's death each morning yet to his unhappiness, the man was as yet alive, more advantageous and presenting peril to him.

Now, Sadao turns into the genuine man in him, a genuine human being who understands the basic worth of human life and widespread fellowship.

He supposes past nations and mainlands and races and wars.

He finds no motivation to trust that the American is his enemy.

Sadao salvages the American.

Therefore Sadao transcends limited partiality and acts in a genuinely humanitarian way.
