take two wooden blocks

(,same weight)

one which is flat and other a cuboid

such that the flat one has a larger surface area

now, attach a spring scale on both, now try to pull them, you will see when the block start moving

the reading on both were same( say 10N)

this experiment shows that friction force is not dependent on surface area
