Answer:

The molar conductivity of OH- is 3-5 times the conductivity of other small anions. To calculate the conductivity of a solution you simply multiply the concentration of each ion in solution by its molar conductivity and charge then add these values for all ions in solution.

Molar Conductivity is 400\ S\ cm^2 mol^{-1}

Explanation:

We know that,

  • Molar Conductivity is what a mole of electrolyte ions gives as conductance which further gives increment to degree of dissociation and finally molar conductivity.
  • Molar Conductivity,(\lambda_m) = \frac {1000 \times Conductivity(k)}{Concentration(c)}

So,

(\lambda_m) = \frac {1000 \times 8 \times 10^{-5}}{2\times 10^{-4}}= 400\ S\ cm^2 mol^{-1}

Hence,

\lambda^0_{CH_3COOH} = \lambda^0_{H^+} + \lambda^0_{HCOO^-}

= (349.5+50.5) = 400\ S\ cm^2mol^{-1}\\

  • Degree of Dissociation, \alpha = \frac {\lambda_m}{\lambda_0}

= \frac {400}{404}

= 0.99

or \alpha = 99.99%
