let \: the \: boxes \: at \: starting \: be \: x \\ 50 \: boxes \: are \: more \: brought . \: this \: means \: boxes \: become  \\ x + 50 \\ now \: half \: boxes \: were \: used .now \: boxes are \frac{x + 50}{2 }  which \: is \: also \: 40  \\ so \:  \frac{ x + 50}{2}  = 40 \\ x + 50 = 80 \\ x = 30
