Many reasons. Like;

1)The ecological services they provide to us. Like provisioning of fresh water, oxygen etc.

2) Various products like timber, Non Timber forest produce on which millions of people worldwide are dependent for livelihood.

3)Forests are called as rain magnets.

4)They save us from disasters. Protect from soil erosion, cyclones in coastal areas, filter water, moderates the temperature etc.

5) Forests are genetic pool and full of various species. Every Species on earth has fixed role to play for sustaining the ecosystem (niche). Forests protect this biodiversity.
