Given:

Consider a bar magnet having length 5 cm of pole strength 8Am.

To Find:

What will be the magnitude of magnet on the line, which is along the axis of magnet?

Solution:

Here, it is given that -

Length of the magnet = \[2l = 5cm = 5 \times {10^{ - 2}}m\],

pole strength = m= 8 A-m.

Since, magnetic field intensity of north pole is-

\[\begin{gathered}  {H_N} = \left( {\dfrac{{{\mu _0}}}{{4\pi }}\dfrac{m}{{{l^2}}}} \right)/{\mu _0} \hfill \\   = \dfrac{m}{{4\pi {l^2}}} \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \]

and magnetic field intensity of south pole is-

\[{H_S} = \dfrac{m}{{4\pi {l^2}}}\]

therefore, magnetic field intensity along the axis of magnet is -

H=H_{N}+H_{S}  \\\\=\dfrac{2m}{4\pi(l^{2}) }\\\\=\dfrac{m}{2\pi(l^{2} )}

on substituting the value of 'm' and 'l' , we have

\[\begin{gathered}  H = \dfrac{8}{{2 \times 3.14 \times 25 \times {{10}^{ - 4}}}} \hfill \\   = 0.050955 \times {10^4} \hfill \\   = 509.55 \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \]

Thus, the magnitude of magnet on the line, which is along the axis of magnet is 509.55 A/m^{2}.
