Consider a long solenoid of radius a and a long straight thin insulating wire placed inside the
solenoid parallel to its axis at a distance r 0 away from the axis. Suppose the solenoid carries a
current I and the wire carries a uniform charge density λ.
(a) Calculate the angular momentum per unit length of this system: (i) about the axis of the
solenoid, (ii) about the wire.
(b) If we change the current in the solenoid, how would it affect the momentum of this system.​
