Answer:

22.5° west of South 7.65 m

Explanation:

Consider east as x-axis and north as y axis . A girl walk 10 m in east for first time and then walk 10m in west to north direction for second time . For third time she walks in unknown magnitude and direction to get back to her initial position . Find the third displacement vector?

First Girl goes   10 m in east

Then Girl goes 10 m in west to north direction

=> North = 10/√2 = 5√2 m

& West = 5√2 m

Point is 10 - 5√2 m East & 5√2 m from Original

Now to Come back to original point

Displacement = √ (10 - 5√2)² + (5√2)²  = √(200 - 100√2) m

= 10(√(2 - √2)

= 7.65 m

Tanθ = (10 - 5√2 )/ 5√2

=> Tanθ = √2 - 1

=>  θ = 22.5°

22.5° west of South 7.65 m
