Explanation:

Carbon is also able to react with oxygen to form carbon monoxide which is slightly acidic. Oxygen present in the air reacts with non-metals such as nitrogen, sulphur etc as a result, non-metals tend to form oxides which are acidic in nature.  

Metals like sodium and magnesium tend to form basic oxides.

(b) Sodium and Magnesium form basic oxides.
