It is not possible to go to earth’s interior beyond 6370 km.

So to know more about the interior of the earth, one has to rely on direct and indirect sources.

Direct sources include molten magma from volcanic eruption, rocks obtained from mining areas ad information from different drilling projects done by scientists. Indirect sources include meteors that fall on earth, seismic activity, gravity and magnetic field.

Seismic waves include body waves and surface waves and these are recorded by seismograph.

Body waves are generated when energy is released at focus and when body waves interact with surface rocks cause surface waves.

Direct sources of information are Seismic activity Earth‚ Volcanoes, Mined rocks  and indirect sources are magnetism , Gravitational force, Meteors

Explanation:

  • There are various exogenetic and endogenetic forces that shape the earth's landscape and hence it makes it necessary for understanding the nature of the interior of the earth.
  • Most of the knowledge about the interior of the earth comes from the seismic studies of the planet this includes volcanism and various rocks that are mined directly from the surface of the earth.
  • Other indirect sources include the Magnetism, meteoroids, and gravitational forces of the planet. As these sources don't tell us the exact information.
