SOLUTION

COMPLETE QUESTION

Consider two sets A= { 2,3}, B = { 6,9,12}

1) Find A × B

2) How many relations can be formed from A to B

3) If R=(2,6)(3,9) write its set-builder form

4) Draw an arrow diagram for the above-mentioned relation

5) Frame a relation from B to A.

EVALUATION

Here the given two sets are

A= { 2,3}, B = { 6,9,12}

1. A × B = { (2,6), (2,9), (2,12), (3,6),(3,9), ( 3,12) }

2. Here A × B has 6 elements

We know that a Relation from A to B is a subset of A × B

Hence the number of relations can be formed from A to B

 =  {2}^{6}

 = 64

3. The required Set builder form is

= { (x, 3x) : x ∈ A }

4. The arrow diagram for the above-mentioned relation is referred to the attachment

5. A relation from B to A is { (6,2), (9,3) }
