The resistance wires are of high resistance and their resistance almost does not change due to change in temperature. They are made from alloys such as manganin and constantan for which the specific resistance is high and the effect of change in temperature on their resistance is negligible.

Constantan and manganin are alloys. They have high resistance and have high melting point. This satisfy the requirements of a standard resistance and hence they are used for it.
