Food chain is defined as the cycle in which one organsim eats the other and become source of food for other.

Explaination:

Energy flows occur in the food chain and according to law only 10% of energy is flow from one level to another.

Ex - Grass- deer- tiger.

Energy flow occur in this process from grass to tiger.

Suppose grass has 1000J of energy ,then it reaches to deer by following 10%law and according to it ,deee has only 100 J of energy.

Deer is eaten by tiger and tiger has 10 J of energy.

By food chain also nutrients are flow in the ecosystem.

When these animals died, then decomposers acts on them and thus released nutrients from them to soil
