Construct a line

segment LM of length 7.6cm. From this, cut off LN of length 4.2cm. Measure the length of the remaining line segment NM.

1. Draw LN=7cm.

2. With L as centre and radius =6.4cm, draw an arc at M.

3. With N as centre and radius =5.5cm, draw an arc at M.

4. Join LM, MN.

5. Hence Δ LMN is the required triangle.
