we have to find length of segments which divide the line segment in the ratio of 3:5.

Let M be the point on the line which divides the line OP in the ratio of 3:5.

OM= $\frac{3}{3+5}\times 7\\\\ \frac{3}{8}\times 7=2.625$ cm

MP = 7 - 2.625=4.375 cm

or , MP = $\frac{5}{8}\times 7= \frac{35}{8}=4.375$ cm
