Steps of Construction :

Step 1 : Make a line segment AB of 5.5 cm .

Step 2 : Make a line of an angle of 130° from point B .

Step 3 : Mark point C, which must be 5.5 cm from point B .

Step 4 : Make a line of an angle of 60° from point C .

Step 5 : Make a line of an angle of 120° from point A to the line constructed from angle C , these lines meet at point D by making an angle of 50° .

Answer:

area = (1/2)(BC)(AB)

17 = (1/2)(√(5^2 + (2-y)^2 ) (√34

34/√34 = √(25 + 4 - 4y + y^2)

square both sides

34 = 29 - 4y + y^2

y^2 - 4y - 5 = 0

(y-5)(y+1) = 0

y = 5 or y = -1
