Step-by-step explanation:

To construct triangle ∆ABC

  1. Draw a line segment AB=5.8 cm
  2. With the help of protector/compass draw 60° angle at B.
  3. Extend that line up to P.
  4. Measure 8.4 cm and draw an arc of 8.4 cm on line BP.
  5. Join P to A.Draw a perpendicular bisector of line AP.
  6. The perpendicular bisector of AP on extension meet BP at C.
  7. Join C and A.
  8. Construction of ∆ABC has been done.

On measurements from figure you will find that AC = 5 cm

BC = 3.4 cm

AC+BC= 8.4 cm

which is required

Hope it helps you.
