Construction of ∆ABC is attached.

Given:

  • A ∆ ABC.
  • BC=6.5 cm angle C=60°, AB+AC= 10 cm.

To find:

  • Construct and justify.

Solution:

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw a line segment BC of 6.5 cm with the help of pencil and scale.
  2. Draw \angle XCB=60^{\circ} with the help of compass /protector.
  3. Mark an arc of radius 10 cm on ray CX; the point is L.
  4. Join L and B.
  5. Draw perpendicular bisector of LB.
  6. Mark the point A, where perpendicular bisector intersects the ray CX.
  7. Join A and B.
  8. Construction of ∆ABC is over.

Justification:

On measurement of sides of ∆ABC.

It is clear that

AC= 4.4 cm

AB= 5.6 cm

Thus,

AB+AC= 10 cm

Hence verified.
