Answer:

The required triangle is drawn in the attachment.

STEPS:

  • Draw a line segment CD = 5.6cm.
  • Taking C as a point, draw an arc of 6.8cm.
  • Similarly, Taking D as a point, draw an arc of 6.8 cm which intersects the arc draw by point C.
  • Both arcs interest at a particular point E.
  • Join CE and DE.
  • DE = CE = 6.8cm.

→ Hence, ∆ECD is the required triangle.

→ The triangle is isosceles triangle because 2 sides of a triangle are equal and other one side is different.

Given :  EC=ED=6.8cm CD=5.6cm

To Find : construct  triangle ECD

Solution:

Step 1 : Draw a line segment CD  = 5.6 cm

Step 2 : Using compass width = 6.8 cm and taking C as center draw an arc

Step 3 : keeping  compass width same and taking D as center draw an arc such that it intersects arc drawn in previous step at E

Step 4 : Join EC & ED

ΔECD is constructed

This is an Isosceles triangle  as it has 2 equal sides
