Step-by-step explanation:

As we have to Construct a word problem on simultaneous linear equations in two variables

problem:

The sum of the two numbers is 38 and the difference between them is 2 . Find the numbers

solution:

let the numbers be a and b

then according to the problem

sum of two numbers is 38

a+b = 38 ....(1)

difference between the two numbers  is 2

a- b= 2...(2)

solving equation (1) and (2)

we get

2b= 36

b= 18

the one number is 18

putting the value of b in eq (1)

we get

a = 20

other number is 20

hence the two numbers are 18 and 20
