In the given problem we have to draw the MOT  diagram of the given compound

SO

The tetraammine platinum (II) complex [Pt(NH3)4]2+ is square planar geometry.

Pt2+ having the hybridization dsp2.

Pt2+ has e configuration d8.

Four suborbital of 5d are doubly occupied by these electrons (2 in each). The electron pairs from the four ammine ligands are accommodated in one of the suborbital of 5d, the 6s and two 6p orbitals (6px & 6py). This gives dsp2.

There are 4 Amine Ligands

Explanation:

  • The tetra-amine platinum (II) complex [Pt(NH_3)_4]^2^+ is square planar with Pt^2^+ having the hybridization dsp^2.
  • This explained below. Pt^2^+ has e configuration d^8.
  • Four suborbital of 5d are doubly occupied by these electrons (2 in each).
  • The electron pairs from the four amine ligands are accommodated in one of the suborbital of 5d, the 6s and two 6p orbitals (6px & 6py). This gives dsp^2.
