The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180 degrees. Since point O replaces point a in this triangle for the purposes of finding BOC, we create a new triangle using the original bc line and the angle bisectors. As the name implies, the bisectors cut the angles in half. The sum of the interior angles remain 180, however; that never changes for triangles.
