This is because when we move down a group a new shall is added and the upcoming electrons are filled in the new shall. So force of attraction of nucleus decreases on valence electrons. So atomic radius decreases

For the fact that each group has same valance electrons than it is the characteristic of periodic table

c) Atomic radius goes on increasing down a group.This is because as we move down the group the the electrons goes on increasing and the elliptical orbits/energy shells also goes on increasing due to which the force between the nucleus and the electrons decreases and this results the nucleus to expand

d) Elements belonging to the same group have same valency because as we move down the group all the elements possess the same no. of valence electrons due to which their valency becomes the same
