Spherical Marbles of diameter 1.4 cm are dropped into a cylindrical beaker of diameter 7 cm., which contains some water. Find the number of marbles that should be dropped in to the beaker, so that water level rises by 5.6 cm.

Answer:

diameter of beaker = 7 cm

Radius =72cm

Level of water rises = 5.6 cm

Diameter of a marble = 1.4 cm

∴ Radius =1.42=0.7cm

Let n marbles are dropped so,

Volume of n marbles

=n43π×(0.7)3

⇒n×43π×(0.7)3

=π×(72)2×5.6

⇒n×43×710×710×710

=72×72×5610⇒n=150
