One of the oldest countries in the history is Egyptian. Precisely Pharaohs, their culture was based on agriculture. Growing food, cotton and paper beside the Nile river. And in the present nations its the same. Most of what we see today around us comes from farms and farmers. Most simple example is the paper student'd be using in school. It comes from trees. So yeah, agriculture is one of the most basic and most important pillars in a nation's development.
