Metals are usually ‘good’ conductors of heat as well as electricity. In fact the Wiedemann–Franz ‘rule’ in physics relates the phenomena of electrical and thermal conductivity.

EXECPTION! Type I Supercondictors are ‘perfect’ electrical conductors but very poor thermal conductors.

Diamond is an excellent thermal conductor but a very bad electrical conductor.

Good conductors of heat are generally substances that have a high electron count and can transfer electrons easily through other molecules and eventually through the entire material. The easiest way to tell is whether the materials substances have a high electron count such as metals and wires which are composed of metallic atoms like aluminium, copper and iron or if the material is made of low conductive materials like wood (cell-based), silicone or gases such as hydrogen, oxygen or helium. Although those gases fuel flames and act as an accelerant it must already have a flame passing through the raw susbtance so to answer your question, metallic object and other objects with weak bonds allow the electrons to pass more easily and therefore conduct heat energy better
